Stop Back Pain Now

No one is immune to getting back pain, and heavy lifting or lifting improperly can contribute to it, as well. Use caution when you are lifting things that are heavy.

Do you have back pain? Always remember to pay attention to how you move; try to avoid twisting your body excessively. Twisting the back, even to do routine activities like housework, can cause injury and lead to a great deal of pain. When playing sports, beware of how you move you spine and slow down when you feel tightness or pain.

Have another cup of coffee – it may help your back! The caffeine found in coffee blocks the chemical adenosine. This particular chemical leads to a stiffened back, so consuming coffee will block the chemical and keep the pain from occurring.

Be cautious about how you sleep at night. The best position may not be your favorite or most comfortable one, but it’s about what is best for your back and sleeping in a back-down, balanced area is vital. Don’t ever sleep on your stomach.

Back pain issues can be caused by or resolved by your mattress. A good thing for the spine is a mattress that is medium-firm. If your mattress is too soft, your spine will be more likely to flex. An overly firm mattress can cause your spine to tense up. Look for the comfortable middle zone in mattresses that gives decent support, and yet still is comfortable.

Alternate cold and hot for back pain relief. Coolness in the form of ice or other cool packs not only relieves pain, but also helps bring inflammation under control. On the other hand, warmth will relax your muscles by increasing the blood flow. For heat, try an electric blanket, heating pad or a warm bath, but make sure not to fall asleep while using any of those methods.

Remember to maintain a good posture all the time. Keep your back straight, your feet on the floor, one slightly ahead of the other, and your elbows at your sides as you type. You should be looking directly into your computer screen, not down nor up.
